Whenever I hear that someone plans to move to Beirut, I feel a little better about my life. I have my “why am I living in this hell hole?” days quite regularly (and by quite regularly, I of course mean pretty much every day) but hearing news of someone’s return tempers that nagging feeling for a while. I realize this sounds absolutely ridiculous but I find reassurance in numbers and somehow the knowledge of others taking a similar decision as I have makes me feel like it can’t actually be all that bad. A couple of weeks back, my friend Nour called me up out of the blue and told me that not only is she in Beirut, but has moved here indefinitely. I couldn’t have been happier.
